“Equal Educational Opportunity Is One Step Closer”

Recent reforms to the United States’ higher education system are slowly but surely helping to close the educational opportunity gap between races. The study published in The Journal of Blacks in Higher Education found that black students are more likely to attend lower-quality colleges than their white counterparts, but recent changes in the system may be helping to narrow the gap. In particular, recent changes to admissions standards have made it harder for colleges to discriminate against applicants based on their race or ethnicity, which is helpful in terms of leveling the playing field.

The study found that black students are more likely to attend colleges with lower academic standards. This means that these colleges may not be able to provide the same level of education that white students receive. In fact, many of these colleges may not even be accredited. This is a problem because it limits the opportunities that black students have, both in terms of education and career options.

The reforms to the United States’ higher education system are moving in the right direction, and may be helping to close the educational opportunity gap between races.

The recent changes to the way degrees are awarded are one example of how the reforms are working to close the gap. This shift towards online education is also an important part of the solution, as it gives people from all backgrounds the chance to gain a degree without leaving their homes. Continued investment in programs that help disadvantaged students access quality education is crucial if we hope to see real progress in closing the opportunity gap.

While progress has been slow, recent reforms to the United States’ higher education system may be making a difference in the way that black students are treated when it comes to access to quality colleges.
